Meet the Teacher

Hello! My name is Alisha Whicker Ramsey, and I am an English course instructor, currently teaching Communications and English I. I am also licensed in CTE/Business and Social Studies.

I enjoy teaching at Yadkin Valley because of the emphasis on Project-Based Learning and cross-curricular studies. Making connections across disciplines in lesson planning makes for stronger connections in students' brains, building those neuropathways and helping them retain their learning.

I began teaching with Davidson County Schools in 2018 after graduating with a Bachelor's from Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC. I've continued my education at Salem College, completing a certificate in Historic Preservation in December of 2018 and a Master's in the Art of Teaching in May of 2025.

I am a champion of cultivating lifelong education. I seek out opportunities to learn and grow, and encourage this mindset in my students. I am a Discovery Education Educator and completed the National Geographic Educator Certification in 2021. My upcoming goal is to earn a spot in the National Geographic Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship program for 2026-2028.
